National Hardware Show Highlights: Spill-Proof Gas Can

The Sure Can is one of the best and easiest to use gas cans around. The spout pivots down from the bottom so fuel drains directly into the tank being filled.

A thumb-operated trigger on the handle controls an internal valve: push down and fuel is dispensed; let go and the valve snaps shut.

Spills are avoided because there’s no need to tip the can, which is self-ventilating to prevent it from glugging.

The Sure Can is currently undergoing testing for CARB compliance in California; it’s already sold in other states.

Cans are available for gasoline, diesel, and kerosene.

The 2.5-gallon model costs $25 and the 5-gallon model $50.

This is one of many tools/products that I found particularly cool, useful, interesting or all three at the National Hardware show last month in Las Vegas.

The show is where buyers from hardware stores, lumber yards, and home centers go to see the latest and greatest tools and products being pitched by the companies that make them.

The 2016 show was particularly good, with more interesting new tools and products than I have seen in years past. Some recently came out, some are scheduled for release later this year, and some are concepts in search of buyers—years away from being produced or fated to never be produced at all.
